New Council Term
There has been some change in the parish council, as we sadly say goodbye to our Chairman Giuseppe Frapporti and Councillor Michael Price. The rest of the council would like to thank Giuseppe and Michael for their hard work and for giving up their free time in making the village a better place for its residents.
When people leave, we also have people join, and we would like to welcome Julia Magill onto the council. Julia lives in Nuthampstead and was co-opted in Mays meeting. She will be looking after the planning portfolio and will be working closely with the council and residents on the neighbourhood plan.
Kristian Melson has taken over from Giuseppe as chairman

The Parish Council are aware the bus shelter on corner of Royston Road and Periwinkle Close succumbed to the high winds and has been blown off its standings. Thankfully this occurred shortly after the school bus had picked up and departed. No injuries occurred and no damage to property. The Clerk is working to have the bust shelter reinstated as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, following our annual independent safety inspection of play apparatus on the Rec we have had to reluctantly take a decision to close the zip wire due to excessive rot in the supporting timbers, as reported by the safety inspectors
The Parish Council is aware of the disappointment this will create but we are obliged to take what may be considered unpopular actions to ensure the safety of everyone.
We will research the options available to us, considering the age of the zip wire and the changes in safety requirements since it’s installation and the economics of repair, this may take a number of weeks.

Responsible Dog Ownership - Barkway
With the longer days upon us many more of us are now taking to walking the footpaths again and enjoying our wonderful surroundings. Could we please point out to dog owners that not everyone likes dogs or is comfortable with loose dogs approaching them on their walks. If you are not 100% sure that you can recall your dog then please be considerate and keep the dog on a lead when meeting other walkers.
Could we also remind dog owners that it is an offence to not clean up after your dog if it fouls on the footpath or on anyone's property.
There are numerous dog bins located around the village, which the Parish Council pays to have emptied on a weekly basis, so there is no excuse to not pick up!
