Comments on December 2020 edition of the Diary, page 10
In Decembers edition of the Diary an article questioned the members of the Parish Councils commitment in respect of the River Quin and the Wagon Wash.
On May 26th 2020 Barkway, along with Reed Parish Council gave support to our M.P Sir Oliver Heald’s project to save the chalk streams and rivers in this area, which would include the River Quin.
The Parish Council has been active in pressing the Environment Agency, Hertfordshire County Council and North Herts District Council about the proposed reservoir on Wisebridge Farm to protect the Quin by protecting its water source from extraction.
The Parish Council has already organised a survey on the Wagon Wash and are preparing further surveys including an Ecology one to determine exactly what are required to improve this village asset.
We have also had a report on the village pond that reported that the tree canopy would require pollarding at some point. But we are progressing with the Wagon Wash first.
I note the comments on the local water treatment plant and will take that up with Affinity Water.
The minutes of all Parish Councils meetings are a matter of public record as they are published on the Parish’s web site.
Cllr Bill Dennis.
